the music opinion - wip!!!
maybe these deserve more recognition, maybe they're known but still cool! let's talk about music! think of these logs as updates on me, combined with the sharing of music i've learned about and want to share
cool music!
$ 02-4-2025 - hello, i finally remembered the password to my neocities account, it's been over a year since i claimed i 'wanted to add more content to the page', well the time has come, so here goes the first little post
today i will share with you casiopea
okay so, you're a japanese businessman in the mid 80's, and you come home from work thirsting for some music to pump your grey serious veiny-veins with some colorful life, some rhythm, some jazz, some rock! casiopea's got your back. their sound innovative and defiying of the standards set by most at their time, tetsuo sakurai the bassist, would strum his bass like a guitar, while issei noro, the guitarist and composer, would slap his guitar like a bass, crazy stuff!
casiopea's main genre is fusion, but they strongly incorporate jazz in some musics, so if i had to recommend an album to taste what casiopea can do, i'd recommend you listen to casiopea (ironically the album name is the band name, but this just goes to show how this album will greatly introduce their style!), here's the spotify link
now, casiopea's not just about music. i want to put emphasis on their live performances. their charm is beyond what i can express with words.
let's see, a great example of this is in their '85 live performance, during the playing of galactic funk, they had a funny idea for the solo, to dance in a specific way while mukaiya, the keyboard player, played his solo! and i want you to check it out! look at their faces, their smiles, they're so happy! minoru mukaiya, the keyboard player, is definitely one of my favorite musicians of all time, i love his funky groovy solos! the solo that i'm refering to begins at 3:20 timestamp. here's the youtube link
now, i leave you with some homework. your very own quest!
this is a live performance casiopea did with another band, t-square. they have multiple amazing moments during this live, and you can look through the comments, and watch and listen to it, and personally, i hope you enjoy it! i know i did
give me your thoughts on the chatbox! i'd like to write more of these, and your feedback is more valuable than you might think, stay safe out there
more soon, if i remember the password of my neocities account
let me know in the chatbox if you see any dead link! <3
